Funeral for Scott Vaughn Hancey, 28, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Revs G Douglas Ripley, Rex Terry and Joe McKaig officiating.

A graveside service will be held at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with a 21-gun military salute, honoring Mr Hancey's service as a Marine. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr Hancey died Friday, Jan 19, 2001, at his home. He was born May 9, 1972, in Utah to Ray and Kay Hancey. He was a medical billing manager at McAbee Medical. He served in the US Marine Corps for four years, and he was a member of the American Bass Fishing Club. He was attending Calhoun Community College, pursuing an engineering degree, and he planned to transfer to The University of Alabama in Huntsville. He was a member of Decatur Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jessica Ripley Hancey of Decatur, and one daughter, Kyleigh Scott Hancey of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Ron Hill, Robbie Copeland, John McAbee, Jerry Sparkman, John Landers and Mickey Daniel.

Memorials may be made to Decatur Baptist Church, in care of a trust for Kyleigh Hancey.
