"BORTHICK, John Martin Age 58, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 21, 2009 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home. Graveside services and inurnment will be held on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in Memorial Gardens with Brother Joe Hinkle officiating. John Martin was born November 10, 1950. He graduated from Springfield High School and was a member of the 1965-68 Yellow Jacket football teams winning the NCC and Tobacco Bowl Championship in 1967. He attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and received his Bachelor of Science and Master Degrees and his ABD/PhD from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. He pursued his desire to help others through his counseling work at the Big Cypress Reservation and Family Services across Broward County, FL. He loved golf and his work at the Arrowhead Golf and Sports Club. Martin was preceded in death by his mother, Evaline R. Borthick. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Machado; his step-daughters, Tammie and her husband, Steve Clary, and Vickie Machado, both of Pembroke Pines, FL; his daughter, Meegan Carra of Minnesota; his father, Dan S. and his wife, Juanita Borthick; his sister, Dr. Melinda Borthick, Jan Taylor; his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel E. and Billie Caren Borthick; his nephews, Will Borthick, John Borthick; and his niece, Analyn Borthick, all of Springfield. Martin loved his families, and shared respect, love and laughter with everyone he met. He never met a stranger or a living being he would not help. Rest in Peace. ROBERTSON COUNTY FUNERAL HOME"
