Jesse Marion Masters, age 80 a longtime resident of Warren, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at his home.

Jesse was born Zdzislaw Marion Modrzejewski, July 02, 1928 in Lodz, Poland the son of the late Walter Modrzejewski and the late Maria (nee: Pensko) Modrzejewski.

Mr. Masters at age 11 was held in Auschwitz concentration camp during the World War. Mr. Masters fought the Nazis first in the Polish Underground and then served in the Polish Army. After leaving Europe Mr. Masters came to the United States in 1945 and enlisted in the United States Army where he would serve in the Korean War achieving the rank of Master Sergeant along with receiving many accolades including the Purple Heart medal.

After his military service Mr. Masters worked for many years as a local truck driver for many companies.
When he was not working he could be found tending to his yard and many beautiful plants or just helping one of his neighbors.
He helped anyone and everyone and was a friend to all.

He also enjoyed shopping, playing cards, or going to the casino.

However his passion was his family… He cherished his great-grandson Jaiden.

Jesse Masters was the beloved husband of the late Virginia.

Dearest father of Terry "Denise" Stevens.

Devoted grandfather of Heather Rasmussen, and great-grandfather of Jaiden Rasmussen.

Cherished godfather of Melissa Etue.

Loving companion of Grace Clark, and former father in-law of Keith Rasmussen.
Jesse will also be missed by his dog Marty.

Visitation for Mr. Masters will be held Monday 5-9 pm, and Tuesday 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral 30009 Hoover at Common (12 ½ Mile). Mr. Masters will lie in state Wednesday 10:30 am, at Christ Lutheran Church until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Officiating the funeral will be Rev. Pastor Dan Cave.

Interment will be in Cadillac Memorial Cemetery in Clinton Township.
