Francis "Snooks" Adkins, 72, a long time Cashmere resident, passed away Monday, April 8, at the Central Washington Hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1913, at Scotts Mills, Ore. and moved to Woodland and Cashmere, where he attended school.
He was united in marriage to Ruby Strohm July 3, 1942, at Coeur d'Alene. During World War II, he served the Seabees with of the US Navy.
Following this he worked for Chevrolet, the Monitor Tavern and then Schmitten Lumber Company
and Forest Products for 32 years before retiring in 1978. Surviving are his wife, Ruby; 3 sons, Gary and Raymond of Cashmere, and Duane of Pateros; a daughter, Carolyn Clayton of Cashmere, 8 grandchildren; a sister Marguerite Chapman of Wenatchee; and two brothers, Glen of Cashmere and Douglas of Auburn.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at the Cashmere Cemetery with Rev. Robert Hasseries officiating. The Braun Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
