PIONEER FIFE LAKE RESIDENT PASSES. Rosa D. Battenfield, 70, died at her home in FIFE Lake Sunday night, following a lingering illness. Rosa Ely was born June 14, 1885, in Randall, Ohio. In 1901 she was united in marriage to Levern Leggett, and to this union was born one son. Mr. Leggett preceded her in death. On July 3, 1905, she was married to Alger Battenfield at FIFE Lake and has lived the past 50 years on their farm near FIFE Lake. Surviving, besides the husband, are three sons, Arthur Leggett of FIFE Lake, and Harold and Laurence Battenfield of FIFE Lake; two daughters, Mrs. William (Nettie) Hawkins of Muskegon, and Mrs. Stanley C. (Ruby) Ball of Standish; one brother, Perry Ely of FIFE Lake; 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many other relatives and friends. One daughter, Dorothy, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 1, at 2:00 p.m. from the Springfield Church of Christ at FIFE Lake, with Rev. Robert Frey of Manton officiating.
