Charley was born April 22, 1876 in Richmond, Utah, the first child born in America. Charley lived to see the progress of the phonograph from the early model to the cylinder type Edison made with the big horn shaped speaker, to the flat disk record type, the self player and then Television.
When his parents came to America all the farm work had to be done by hand. There was no machinery.

When Charley was a small boy his father taught him to tie wheat in a bundle without any string. Later they bought a binder that done this work for them. After he grew to his teens his father had him haul wheat to Smithfield, Utah with a wagon and team.

Charley married Margaret Lucy Baker March 18, 1903. He was baptized February 16, 1924. Charley and Maggie had nine children: Fred, Pricilla, Edwin, Therma, Leonard, Ira, Ila, Cyril and a stillborn son.

Charley built a house near his dad's and run the farm until his children took over. Charley died the 25th of January 1959.
