Early in the history of Lexington, two brothers from Tennessee, Sam Pinkney and George, moved in the community known as String Prairie. Sam married Nancy McClanahan daughter of John and Dorothea Keyes.Four children were born to this union.Eugene,Roberta, William and Mary.
Sam married a 2nd time to Margaret Sikes who came to Texas from Mississippi following the CSA. They had 5 children. Robert Lee,Blanks,Tommie A.,Ethel and Hattie Elizabeth. Sam was in the CSA 18 Brigade, Lexington Invincilbe, 18 May 1861. Sergeant Co H, 2nd Reg Texas Infantry, Lee Co. Texas He was a farmer and a member of the Baptist church. His parents were Ingram Blanks and Minerva Arnold Scales. He is in the 1850 and 1880 Census.
