Oliver Ulysses Forbes died Tuesday afternoon March 4, 1959, of a heart attack at the home of his son, Denzil Forbes in Pueblo.
Mr. Forbes was born Dec. 25, 1890 in Cherokee, Okla., the son of the late Charles and Elsie Forbes. He was a veteran of World War 1 serving in France. Mr. Forbes farmed and ranched in Baca County for many years before coming to Fort Lyon in 1936, where he was employed until his retirement in 1950 on disability.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Florence Forbes; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Effie) Hunke; one son Denzil Forbes of Pueblo, and five grandchildren. One son, Doyle was killed in World War ll. He also leaves six sisters and three brothers. One brother, Willis Forbes, lives in Las Animas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Powell Mortuary, with Dr. George Banks of the Christian Church officiating.
Mrs. Jim Six and Mrs. Raymond Earl will sing the hymns, "Old Rugged Cross" and "Sweet By and By", accompanied by Mrs. William Setchfield on the organ.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cecil Head, John Head, Albert Hightower, Robert Forbes, John L. Head and Dean Forbes.
Honorary pallbearers are Jim McEndree, Jess Lancaster, Ted Barker, William Marshall, Frank Bentley and Joe Byers.
Interment will be at the Las Animas Cemetery.
