Bessie is a confirmed ancestor of Mayflower Pilgrim Edward Doty. Her lineage from Doty was approved by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants on 12/20/2019.

About Bessie from her son, Paul:

1. Bessie had an outgoing personality and she was strict..not afraid to use 'the stick' when the children were unruly.
2. Made the girls dresses. Knitted?
3. Loved Cream of Wheat
4. Made cherry pies from the cherries her sons picked from the cherry tree in their yard.
5. Kept small garden of green beans, tomatoes, and rhubarb in the backyard.
6. She would sometimes buy strawberries from the street vendor for pies and would mix strawberries and rhubarb to put on cereal.

About Bessie from her granddaughter, JoAnne:

1. Bessie always held the family reunions
2. Remembers Bessie as very gentle, tall and slender.
3. Had English ferns on the porch.
4. Would fix grilled peanut butter sandwiches
5. Ice man would come deliver ice for the refrigerator
6. Lived across the street from her son. She remembers she was about five then and not allowed to cross the street. So she would stand at the edge and holler for her grandma.
