Joseph Amato, 69, of 816 Park St., died yesterday at his home after a short illness. He owned and operated Amato Electric for 40 years and for the last 11 years he was an electrical inspector for the city of Syracuse.
Mr. Amato was a member of Italian American Athletic Club and Progresso Lodge, Order of the Sons of Italy.
Survivors are his wife, Louise Zepettello Amato; two sons, Dr. Dominick Amato of Toronto, Ont., and Joseph Amato of California; two daughters, Roberta of San Francisco, Calif. and Annette Amato of Baltimore, Md.; 3 grandchildren; four sisters, Maggie Lee, Anne Kohler, Antoinette Spadafore and Kate Lamacchia.
Services will be Sat. at 8:45 a.m. at Pirro & Sons Funeral Home, and at 9:30 at Our Lady of Pompei Roman Catholic Church, where a mass will be offered by monsignor Paul A. Brigandi, pastor. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
