Funeral for William Glenn Darby was held Saturday, March 6, 3 p.m., at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Compton officiating.

Burial was in the East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with Parkway Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Darby died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Sunrise Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Florence to John Henry and Bessie Lucille Darby. He worked in the steel fabrication business and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Darby was a member of Hillsboro Area Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the Lawrence County Firefighter's Association and a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Fran Darby; two sons, John A. Darby of Louisville, Ky., and William Darby of Trinity; three daughters, Judith Ann Darby Shaffer of Madison, Betty Glenn Darby Tate of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Teresa Allyne Darby Noonan of Hillsboro; one sister, Allyne Darby Tisdale of Chevy Chase, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were O'Neal Cartee, J.O. Barnett, Aubrey Presson, James A. Matthews, Richard Coffey and Wathan Fielding.
Members of Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department were the honorary pallbearers.
