George Elzy Potter was born in Red River, Texas, February 13, 1875. He married Maude Hall in Flagstaff, Arizona June 6, 1908. Maude was born October 9, 1894 in Escalante, Utah, the daughter of Charles Hall. They moved to Boneta in June 1910 and then homesteaded in Talmage in 1911. Elzy carried the mail for two four years terms for Talmage, Mt. Home, and Boneta. They raised hay, grain, potatoes, cattle, sheep hogs, chickens, turkeys and ducks. They also had a herd of milk cows.
Sixteen children were born to them, including a set of twins. Six children died in infancy. The living children are Sarah Elizabeth born June 2, 1909; Raymond Elzy, June 23, 1912; George Leonard, September 26, 1914; William Lawrence, March 21, 1916; Francis Elsie, October 31, 1917; Minnie Lois, August 14, 1919; Charles Wright, July 30, 1921; Mary Amy, April 3, 1923; Howard Whitmore, May 18, 1925; Maude Irene, March 7, 1931.
Elzy did some freighting from Price to some of the stores in Duchesne and Mt. Home to supplement the family living. He also cut and hauled logs from the mountains to sell when he wasn't too busy on the farm.
Maude raised a big garden each summer. She did a lot of canning and dried vegetables for winter use such as corn, peas, beans, and squash.

They have 61 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Elzy died Feburary 5, 1962 and Maude died Feburary 6, 1946.
