Union Civil War Veteran. A native of England, he was the son of Charles and Sarah W. Whiteley. He emigrated to America and settled in Cincinnati, Ohio. When the Civil War began, he volunteered to serve in the Union Army and enlisted with the 5th Ohio Cavalry as a Saddler in Company B. He mustered out as a Saddler Sergeant. After the war, he returned to Ohio and later died at his residence in Cumminsville in 1897. He was the husband of Martha S. Whiteley.
