PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- William J. Versheldon Sr., 89, of Perryville died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 10, 1913, at Perry County, Mo., son of August and Anna Gotto Versheldon. He and Ruth A. Zoellner were married March 17, 1933.

Versheldon had worked at the International Shoe Factory. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.

Survivors include his wife; one son, William J. "Bill" Versheldon Jr. of Perryville; a sister, Lucille Young of Perryville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday. Parish wake will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 6:30 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday. The rosary will be at 10 a.m.

Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin P. Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
