Henry Leimbach was born in Breitenbach,Kreis Rotebburg, Kur Hessen, Germany, the son of Conrad Leimbach and Katrina Elizabeth "Anna" (Pfaff) Leimbach. Henry and his father came to the US in 1850, after the death of Anna in Germany.
