Stephen D. Musgrove, son of W.F. and Elizabeth Musgrove was born Sept 15, 1853 near Stringtown, Richland county and passed away Dec. 17, 1933 at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 5 days.
His entire life was spent in German township, the last 52 of which were lived in his home near Asbury church.
On November 27, 1874, he was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Stoltz and to this union, two children were born namely: Elbert (Bert) living near his father's home and Della May Arnold of near Champaign.
In his early manhood he united with the Christian church but after his marriage he and his wife became two of the charter members of the present Asbury church, it being his privilege to help lay the corner stone when the church was built. He was a faithful member of this church until his death.
His failing health the past few years prevented him attending and taking an active part in the regular services but his earnest zeal and interest in the church work never failed. It gave him great pleasure to tell of the work which he had helped to do in bringing the kingdom of God to the hearts of mankind.
He was also a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge at Chauncey.
Deceased leaves to mourn his wife with whom he had lived 59 happy years; two children; three grandchildren, John Judy of Penfield, Festur and Mary Jane Arnold of near Champaign; one half brother, Warren Musgrove of Kansas; one half sister, Philena Essenger of New Mexico and a host of relatives and friends.
Altho Father's chair is vacant
And our eyes are wet with tears
We give thanks to our Heavenly Father
For his presence with us those years.

We're so thankful to our Heavenly Father,
For the gift of his Beloved Son
Soon father will be returning,
When Christ Kingdom on earth has begun.

Oh the blessed hope of the future,
When eye to eye shall see,
The working of our Heavenly Father,
And to him bowed shall be every knee.

When sighing, dying and crying shall forever cease,
The whole earth flooded with light,
With the reign of the Prince of Peace.

Then the wicked shall have been destroyed,
And darkness forever ceased,
And Satan has been succeeded
By the glorious Prince of Peace.
