US Congressman. Born in Wiscasset, Maine, he engaged in the lumber, the shipping business and was a member of the Maine State Senate in 1847. In 1847, he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirtieth Congress, serving until 1849. After leaving Congress, he resumed the manufacture of lumber until his death at age 73 in Brooklyn, New York.
