Granville G. Gouge, 87, father of Clifford Gouge passed away at the Community Convalescent Home Sunday where he had been a patient for about two months.
Funeral services were conducted at the Stoutland Baptist church Tuesday with burial in the Hugo Cemetery at Montreal. Rev. Frank Starks officiated.
Mr. Gouge, son of the late Elston and Elizabeth Gouge, was born in Camden County, Mo., March 21, 1871. He was married to Sarah Victoria Woolsey October 15, 1892 who preceded him in death September 30, 1935. Four children were born, Johnie E. and Catherine Elizabeth preceding their father in death In October 1896. Both died within a period of 10 days.
Mr. Gouge spent the early part of his life, in Camden County near Linn Creek. He and his wife moved to a farm near Stoutland in the early 1900's where he spent the remainder of his life, except the last few months spent with his son here.
He was a member of the Old Baptist church of Stoutland.
Surviving are two sons, James Gouge of Stoutland and Clifford Gouge of Windsor; three sisters, Setta Fudge, Linn Creek, Amanda Lewis, Springfield and Ida Scott, Brentwood, and four grandchildren, Wayne Gouge of Windsor and Elaine, Eugene and Lois Gouge of Stoutland.
