John H. Miller, 88, died Thursday of last week at Ellinwood, KS, funeral held there Monday.
John H. Miller, veteran of the Civil War, passed away Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.C. Koehler at Ellinwood, KS, aged 88 years and 5 months. Mr. Miller had visited here about two weeks prior to his death.
Mr. Miller (Mueller) was born in Hermann and was the son of the late Dr. Peter Mueller, a pioneer practitioner of Hermann. At the age of 18 her entered the army during the Civil War. Later he engaged in the carpenter, shipbuilding and cabinetmaker trade. For several years also he practiced medicine in and around Hermann. His marriage to Miss Mary E. Heidenry of Leasburg, MO, was blessed with ten children, two of whom died in infancy. He resided in Hermann until about two years ago when he made his home with his children.
He is survived by his widow, his children, C.C. Miller of Hermann, Mrs. Dora Koehler of Ellinwood, KS, Mrs. Stella Engleman of Sullivan, Mrs. Agnes Habermahel and Miss Rose B. Miller of Springfield, Robert Miller of Republic, MO, and Joseph R. Miller of St. Louis. He leaves eighteen grandchildren.
After a Requiem celebrated in St. Peters Catholic Church at Ellinwood, KS, last Monday, burial took place in the church cemetery at that place.
