WILLIAM L. CONRADI SR., 81, of 5504 St. Rt. 274, New Bremen, OH died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 1:21 A.M. at the St. Marys Living Center, St. Marys, OH. He was born September 2, 1929 near New Bremen, the son of Lambert and Amelia (Kyburz) Conradi. On November 3, 1951 he married Donna Greber who survives near New Bremen.

Other survivors include his daughter-in-law, Karen Conradi of New Bremen, his sister Edythe (Bill) Henschen of New Knoxville, his brother Ned (Nancy) Conradi of New Bremen, his sister-in-laws, Marjorie Dallas of Colorado Springs, CO, Joan Greber of Celina and Mary Greber of Tappahannock, VA. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his son, William "Rex" Conradi Jr.

Mr. Conradi served in Korea with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 241 of New Bremen and the V.F.W. Post 5713 of Celina. He also was a member of the F.O.E. Lodge in Celina. He was a 1947 graduate of New Bremen High School and participated in the High School Basketball program. After high school, he also became a basketball referee and belonged to the former Tri County Referee's Assn. He also raised horses and dogs over the years and belonged to the U.S. Trotters Assn. He was an avid swimmer and could always be seen doing laps at the New Bremen swimming pool or at the local YMCA. Mr. Conradi was engaged in farming his entire life but in 1989 and for the next 18 years became part of the custodial staff at the Auglaize Industries of New Bremen and then for the next 4 years became a part time truck driver for the Industries, officially retiring in February of this year.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday June 1, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen with Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen with the American Legion Post 241 of New Bremen providing graveside military honors. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 3 until 7 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Lake Hospice or the church memorial fund.
