Tim was born to Ezra S. Carter and Mildred Elizabeth (Lee) Carter, on 31 Aug 1933. He was blessed with one younger brother.

The name his parents gave him was Horace Timothy Carter. From birth, he was always known as "Tim" and he never liked or answered to his first name. After many years of confusion and frustration, he legally changed his name to "Tim Carter" with no middle name.

He spent most of his growing years in Minden, LA, where he graduated from Minden High School in 1951. He moved his family to Oklahoma in 1968, where they resided in the Tulsa and Broken Arrow area for the next 33 years. In May of 2001, he returned to Minden to help care for his mother.

After completing high school, Tim served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1957, where he trained as a reciprocating and jet engine mechanic. In 1958, he graduated from DeVry Technical Institute of Chicago, IL, after studying television and radio servicing and communications. In 1968, he graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute of Ruston, LA, earning a B.S. degree in business administration. During his lifetime, he worked for Amoco Production Company in Tulsa, OK and later owned his own bookkeeping and tax service in Broken Arrow, OK for almost 30 years.

While stationed at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona, he met and fell in love with June Brown. They were married on the 3rd of July, 1954, at Gilbert, AZ, where she had been raised. They later became the parents of two children. In 1976, they were divorced.

Tim was always rather timid, until he began raising a family. As he became more outgoing, he learned to be a great organizer of clubs and activities. He helped organize a square dance club, a CB radio club, an annual Carter family reunion, a Minden High School class of 1951 reunion, an e-mail list for the Class of 1951, and much more.

He was a member of many organizations during his lifetime. He was especially proud to be involved with the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the American Legion. He loved square dancing and was a member of quite a few square dance clubs. He was the family historian for the Carter family and did much of the research on his branch of the DeLoach family.

Tim was a strong Christian man, who believed in positive thinking. He encouraged others to smile and he loved to make them laugh. He raised his children with the philosophy that "You can do anything you want to do, if you want to do it bad enough." His favorite Bible verse was John 15:7.

In the wee hours of July 28th, 2001, Tim had a massive stroke. He kept his chin up and kept the hospital staff and family members laughing throughout the next three and a half months, before he had another massive stroke and died on the 14th of November.

Tim never gave up or quit smiling, no matter how hard life became for him.

He was buried near his grandfather, Claud C. Lee, in the Whitehall Cemetery, near Leton, LA. (See photo)
