Barbara "BJ" Bailey died peacefully on Friday (June 19, 2009) at Hartford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 48 years old.

She was predeceased by her parents Eugene and Joan Bailey, her brother Mark Bailey and her sister Patty Bailey. She leaves her mother Nancy Bailey, sisters Michele Hollick and her husband Terry, Barbara Kautz, Jody Waldron and her husband Gary and Mary Beth Marotto, Brothers Gene Bailey and his wife, Lucille, Daniel Bailey and his wife, Eileen, David Bailey and his wife, Karen, John Kautz and his wife, Judy. In addition she leaves 18 nieces and nephews and her dog Yogi.

BJ was born March 13, 1961 in Hartford and lived life in East Hartford and Manchester.

She graduated from East Catholic High School in 1979 and earned her Associates Degree from Post College in 1981. BJ was employed at the law firm of Robinson & Cole as a billing specialist and worked for many years at Stop & Shop. BJ's first love was her family.

She was the youngest of 11 children and made it a point never to miss an occasion for any of her brothers and sisters as well as the many events of her nieces and nephews. You could always count on BJ to be at the birthday party, first communion, confirmation, soccer/lacrosse/baseball game or dance recital. When she arrived the jokes would start and the fun would begin.

BJ also loved sports. Sunday was a tradition of the NFL package and football. The Dallas Cowboys were her favorites. UCONN football occupied her Saturdays. We all got the chance to go to her house for a tailgate before the game and she never charged us to park. When springtime came it was the Red Sox. She would go to opening day and root for the Sox.

BJ had a love of life that was contagious. She cherished the simple things, never taking any one thing or moment for granted. It was this passion for life and the way she lit up a room with her smile and jokes that will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Church, 285 Church Street, Hartford, followed by her Burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
Family and friends may call on Monday, June 22, 2009 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester from 4-8 p.m.
