Elva Grace McHone, 91, of Stites passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Grangeville Health & Recreation Center.
Elva was born July 28, 1914, to Jackson and Maude Bowles on Tahoe Ridge near Kooskia, where she was raised.
Elva was good with animals, a good homemaker and a great cook. She loved to garden and enjoyed canning. Elva loved to fish and was always the one to come home with "the big one!" Elva also had fun playing pinochle.
Elva married Lloyd William McHone in December 1934 in Grangeville. They were married for 70 years. Elva loved her grandchildren and she was very sacrificing.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd McHone; son Ivan and Judy McHone; brothers Jack Bowles and Leo Godwin; sister Betty Burton; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her infant son, Harlo, and son Delbert W. McHone.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Trenary Funeral Home Chapel in Kooskia, with burial following at Tahoe Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Tahoe Ridge Cemetery.
Trenary Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
