William Derby Obituary - The Quad-City Times: February 20, 1992

Galesburg, Illinois - Services for William L. Derby, 73, will be at 10 am Saturday at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 285, Galesburg.

Visitation will be 7-8 pm, Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Galesburg.

Mr. Derby died Tuesday at his home.

He retired in 1981 after 30 years at Admiral Corp., Galesburg.

He married Helen Sepich in 1960.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a first sergeant with the 123rd Field Artillery in Galesburg for 12 years.

His memberships included American Legion Post 285. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Foundation, American Cancer Society, or American Legion Post 285.

Survivors include his wife, a stepdaughter Patricia Taylor, Galesburg; a stepson, Richard Bennett, Arlington, Texas; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister Dorothy Derby, Los Bonos, California.
