"Meet you at Arni's!"

Born in Lafayette, Ind., in 1932, Cohen knew early on that he would make his living in the restaurant industry. During college, he was hired by his uncle to bus tables at Sarge Biltz's restaurant. Returning home after college and a stint in the Army, Cohen worked his way up to manager of Sarge Biltz's before buying the local Pizza King in 1965. From that, he built the Arni's concept, which now includes 18 Arni's restaurants and a central commissary warehouse.

Cohen was an astute businessman with the ability to operate many units with excellent product and service consistency. Further, he believed that participation in charitable activities in the community is an important responsibility for a business.Cohen was truly involved in the communities where his restaurants were located. He was a true leader, and his passing in February 2002 was a great loss to the community.

In 1965 the first Arni's opened at Market Square Shopping Center in Lafayette by Arni Cohen. Originally seating 120 diners, the restaurant's popularity forced several expansions over the years to its current capacity of almost 500. His chain of restaurants includes 9 company stores and 8 franchise restaurants.

Arni was inducted into the Indiana Restaurant Hall of Fame in 2002.
