Sr. HURST -- Roy Edward Burklow Sr., 80, who retired in 1982 as a TU Electric office services manager, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at an area hospital. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Forest Ridge Funeral Home. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Roy Edward Burklow Sr. was born Oct. 28, 1919, in Gordon. He was a graduate of North Side High School, and attended Texas Christian University on a football scholarship. He also attended Texas Wesleyan University and served in the Army in World War II. He excelled in sports such as football, baseball and golf. He was an avid Cowboys fan, a loving father and husband, and a dear friend of everyone. He worked at First National Bank and finished his career with Texas Electric. He was a member of Handley Methodist Church. He was very active in Little League Baseball with his sons. Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Dorris; sons, Ronnie Burklow and his wife, Edna, Roy E. Burklow Jr. and his wife, Sherry, all from Fort Worth; brother-in-law, Cecil Pokluda of Haltom City; brothers, Mal Burklow and his wife, Beverly of Horseshoe Bay, Jim Bynum and his wife, Nicole of Weatherford; sister, Nola Starnes of Fort Worth; grandchild, Jennifer Burklow; numerous nephews; and nieces.
