Edward Loren (E.L.) Seals, 85, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009, at Hendrick Medical Center. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Crescent Heights Baptist Church with Reverend Carl Hill and Reverend Larry Tarver officiating. Burial will follow in Talpa Cemetery in Coleman County, directed by Abilene Funeral Home.


Mr. Seals was born on October 11, 1923, in Coleman County, Texas to Horace and Effie Seals. He was a WWII Veteran, serving in the Philippians and occupied Japan. He spent a year in Hiroshima after its bombing, witnessing its devastation. He and Joyce Davis were married on April 19, 1947, in Coleman, Texas. They moved to Abilene in March of 1956, where he was employed by Mrs. Baird?s Bakery until March of 1969, when he became self-employed and founded Seals Sweeping and Striping until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sportsman.
