Guy E. Barger
Guy E. BARGER, 81, retired Rochester plumbing and heating contractor, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at the Lee Memorial hospital in Fort Myers, Fla., where he had been a patient for three weeks.
Mr. Barger resided at the Me-Ne-Yah-Tah cottage on Lake Manitou's southwest shore. He was spending the winter in Florida at 1418 Charles road, McGregor Grove, Fort Myers, Fla., the home of his daughteer.
He had been in failing health from a heart ailment for the past 18 months.
Mr. Barger was the founder of the firm of Guy E. Barger & Son, contractors of electrical, plumbing and heating work. He recently had retired from the business after 45 years' active association. The firm is located on the southwest side of the lake and is operated by Mr. Barger's son, Oden J. BARGER.
Born March 4, 1880, in Kewanna, Mr. Barger had spent his entire life n Rochester and vicinity. He was married Jan. 16, 1904, at Rochester to Irene Oden WEST, who died July 18, 1958. His parents were Samuel J. and Emma COOK BARGER.
He was a member of the Grace Methodist church and belonged to the Rochester I.O.O.F. lodge for over 50 years.
Surviving are the son, Oden J., Lake Manitou; one daughter, Mrs. Luther (Virginia Emma) KEEL, Fort Myers, Fla.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, William BARGER, Kewanna; one half-brother, Edwin BARGER, Chicago; one sister, Mrs. Glenn GRAFFIS, Kewanna, and one half-sister, Mary BARGER, Kewanna. Preceding him in death was one half-sister, Mrs. Stella TROUTMAN.
Funeral rites will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home with the Rev. Ray E. MILLS officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
The Rochester I.O.O.F. lodge will conduct its services at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday. The family requests that remembrances, other than flowers, be made in the form desired by friends.
