Aubra M. Emmons
Aubra M. EMMONS, 54, of 316 West 5th street, this city, passed away at 6:10 a.m. today at Woodlawn Hospital. He had been a patient at the hospital since Monday evening. Death was attributed to a heart ailment from which he had suffered for the past six years. His condition became serious about six weeks ago and gradually grew worse.
Mr. Emmons had been a resident of this community throughout his entire life and had a legion of friends in both Fulton and adjacent counties. For the past 31 years he has been employed as a clothing salesman at the Racket Clothing store, this city.
Born June 11, 1895 in Richland township, he was the son of Orlando and Harriett (HAYS) EMMONS. He was a graduate of the Richland Center H. S. and the Rochester Normal University and later attended the Valparaiso College. On November 29, 1922, he was married to Verla GRANDSTAFF at South Bend.
Mr. Emmons was a member of the Rochester Methodist Church and the American Legion Post. He was quite active in the affairs of the Legion until failing health forced his retirement from active offices in that organization. He served with the U. S. armed forces during World War I with five months of overseas service.
Surviving are his wife: a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence BROWN; a granddaughter, Susan BROWN, all of this city; a brother Harley EMMONS, Mishawaka; two sisters, Mrs. Naomi TRIMBLE, of Plymouth, Mich., and Mrs. George HALDY, of this city. A brother, Charles E. EMMONS, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday 3 p.m. at the Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Thomas LUKE will be in charge of the services and members of the Leroy Shelton Post of the American Legion will assist in the rites. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, Rochester.
The body is at the funeral home where friends may call.
