Obituary :
George Ralph Voss, age 77, passed away Friday, November 28, 2003, at Akron City Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Voss was born January 19, 1926 in Revere, Mass., and resided in Wadsworth 45 years. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He earned his mechanical engineering degree from MIT in Cambridge, Mass., and his MBA from the University of Akron. He was employed by B.F. Goodrich for 33 years, working in engineering and management positions, retiring in 1986. He loved golfing with his buddies.
Mr. Voss is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eleanor ( Erasmia ) Voss ; children, Robert and wife, Rebecca , Betsy Barnett and husband, Paul , all of Akron ; grandchildren, Amanda and Erica Voss, and Brandon Barnett ; sisters, Mildred McCormack of Revere, Mass., and Dorothy ( Mrs. Ralph ) Menier of Atkinson. N.H. ; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Marie Meyer Voss ; sisters, Flora Boyle , Catherine Pike, and Marie Voss ; brothers, William , Julius , Allan and Arthur.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and physicians at Wadsworth-Rittman and Akron City Hospitals for their special care and consern.
The family will receive friends today 4-7 at the Hillard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 North Lyman Street, Wadsworth, where Trisagios prayers will be held at 6 p.m..
Funeral services Tuesday, 10 a.m. at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 19 S. Union Street, Akron, Rev. Fr. Jerry F. Hall officiating.
Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heath Association, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, or Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
