David Washington Norman was born April 11, 1844 in Marshall, Kentucky, son of Thomas Norman (1819-1865) and Catherine Margaret Kale (1819-1860).

On January 3, 1889, in White, Arkansas, David married LouElla Ellen Hildner, who was born February 25, 1867 in Oxville, Illinois (Scott County), daughter of George Hildner and Rebecca Jane Parker. David and LouElla had the following children: Joseph E. Norman (1878-1955); Minnie L. Norman (1892-1975); Ollie Jane Norman (1895-1951); and Ursela Maye Norman (1901-1983).

David died December 3, 1932 in Silo, Oklahoma (Bryan County) and was buried in Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County). LouElla died December 11, 1947 in Burkburnett, Texas (Wichita County) and was buried there in the Burkburnett Cemetery.
