John Marshall Jr., 81, of Cleveland Street, died at 2:10 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at his home.

Mr. Marshall was a 39 year employee at Plant 1 for Cummins Engine Company retiring in September 1982.

A member of the Memorial Baptist Church, Diesel Workers Union and the Wal-Mart coffee gang, he enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening.

The funeral will be conducted at Noon Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Charles Newman officiating. Calling will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Memorial Baptist Church or the donor's choice of charities.

Born in Tell City September 20, 1927, Mr. Marshall was the son of John and Leona Reed Marshall Sr.; he married Ruth A. Reeves July 27, 1963.

Survivors include his wife; children, Mike Marshall of Franklin, Susan Bryant and Richard Marshall, both of Edinburgh, and Joyce Frame of Columbus; grandchildren, Erik, Todd and Lisa Marshall, Kim Wheeler, Tasha Shelton, Allison Plumlee, Curt and Michael Ballard, Amy Shafer and Jamie Tymitz; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; step-children, Clara (Robert) Hensley and Janice Duttlinger, both of Columbus; step-grandchildren, Jessica Hensley, Tina Cave, Debbie Jordan, Jim, Tim and Shari Duttlinger and Rickie Wright; seven step-great grandchildren; a step-great great grandchild; sisters, Helen "Bill" Hamblen, Pauline Hamblen and Hazel Setser, all of Columbus, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Debbie Ballard; a brother, Dennis Marshall and a sister, Linda Marshall.
