He was born January 2, 1954, in Defiance, where he was raised and graduated from high school as a two sport athlete (basketball and baseball), Greg was a 1976 graduate of Wittenberg University, where he played on the lacrosse team. He was self employed as an accountant at Greg Shannon Accounting Services in Avon Lake for the past thirty years. he was a social member of AMVETS in Sheffield Lake and enjoyed being involved with many local basketball, softball and golf leagues, Greg was an avid local sports fan and loved country music.
Greg is survived by his wife, Mary Jo (nee Ondick); son Eric Shannon of Chicago, daughter Codi Shannon (fianence Joe Hildebrandt) of Lakewood; step-son Dan Russell of Avon lake and step-daughter LeeAnn Karnik (nee Russell) of Avon Lake; 3 grandchildren; his parents George and Mary (Beirne") Shannon (nee Hetz) of De finance; three brothers, Mike Shannon (Marilyn), Denny Shannon (Kathy), and Tom Shannon (Lisa); and many nieces and nephews.
