Harold R. "Jack" McConnaha, 87, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2009, at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine. Per Jack request, his body has been donated for medical research at the University of Iowa. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor Gary MacManus will officiate. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Grace Lutheran Church in memory of Harold. Sympathy notes may be left for the McConnaha family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is handling the arrangements.

Jack was born on June 19, 1921, in Muscatine County, the son of Aaron and Marguerite (Ogilvie) McConnaha. Jack served his country in the United States Army during WWII from March 3, 1942 – December 10, 1945 as an assistant Chaplin in France and Germany. On May 14, 1944, Jack was united in marriage to Evelyn J. Smalley in Muscatine. Jack worked as a high bridge manager for the Muscatine Bridge Commission and was employed at Muscatine School Systems retiring in 1986. Jack was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting stamps and coins and golfing.

Jack will be deeply missed by his children; Roger E. McConnaha and his wife, Susan of Muscatine and Steven McConnaha of McCormick, South Carolina and two granddaughters, Annie Foster and her husband, Ben of Brooklyn, New York and Kelly McConnaha of Los Angeles, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Evelyn; one brother, Douglas; and one special aunt, Mildred Barry.
