Bill D. Wirthlin, age 66, passed away March 20, 1989 at his home in Salt Lake City.
He was born December 2, 1922 in Eureka to William Henry and Mary Elizabeth Douglass Wirthlin. He married Emmeline Kirk on July 14, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He earned a bachelor degree in marketing from Brigham Young University and a masters degree in Retailing from New York University. He has been a buyer for ZCMI Department Store and a coordinator for Marketing Education for Salt Lake City School District. In the LDS Church he has served as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Elder Quorum president and secretary, Explorer advisor, Seventies Group leader, Stake Missionary, Primary teacher, executive secretary to the bishop, and Aaronic Priesthood secretary. He always has taken his callings very seriously and did his very best job. He was a very honest, caring person, and had a great love for his family and was very devoted to their welfare. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Emmeline; two daughters and two sons: Marilyn (Keith) Hart; Carol (Robert) Hart; Douglas K. Wirthlin; David A. (Alison) Wirthlin; ten grandchildren; two sisters: Mamie Wirthlin, and Genevieve Sanderson; one brother, Douglass Wirthlin. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Rex D. Wirthlin.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 25, 1989 at the Valley View 11th LDS Ward in Salt Lake City. Interment was at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
