Student in Robert College, Constantinople, 1866-1867. He was an 1872 graduate of Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont, and Yale Divinity School, 1875. Ordained, 1875. Pastor, First Congregational Church, Walton, N.Y., 1875-1880. Exploring in West and Central Africa as Foreign Superintendent of American Missionary Association, 1880-1883. Pastor, Euclid Avenue Congregational Church, Cleveland, Ohio, 1883-1897. General agent, New York Life Insurance Co., 1897-1899. President, Ohio Color Photo Co., after 1899. Author of numerous articles on Egypt and the Soudan. Married Sarah Elizabeth Harvey, June 16, 1875. Children: Mary Kitchel, Charlotte Edith, Clarence Harvey, Henry Martin, Harry Mynart, Marguerite Choris Elizabeth. Delta Upsilon, Phi Beta Kappa. - A.B.; A.M.; D.D., 1882.
