John Harold McCarty of Ottumwa Route ?? Democratic committeeman of Dahlonega Township, died of coronary failure Thursday at 11:15 p.m. He had not been ill.
He was born Feb. 13, 1899, near Ottumwa, the son of Samuel Q. and Mary McCarty, and had resided in Wapello County all of his life. He was married Dec. ?, 1920, to Rosa E. Warner, who survives.
He was a member of the Farmers Union.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Samuel McCarty; a son, James L. McCarty of Ottumwa Route 7; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy M. Summers of Ottumwa; and two grandsons, Michael Kim McCarty and Charles I. Summers.
The service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Community Funeral Home. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery near Highland Center.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Steele, Gordon Dimmit?, Ralph Black, Andrew Buwalda and William Buwalda.
