Daughter of Edmund Jones Bailey and Ellen Jessop

Wife of Rulon Winton Waite

KAYSVILLE - On June 21, 1916,Edmund Jones and Ellen Jessop Bailey, of Logan, were blessed with a delightful, loving daughter whom they named Oralie. She developed love, obedience, intelligence, and musical talent while attending schools in Logan, culminating in a degree in music from Utah State University in 1939. She loved to sing, play her treasured violin, and accompany many on the piano - an instrument she taught herself to play.

She married Rulon Winton Waite, of Smithfield, in the Logan Temple August 12, 1941. During their 60 years together they reared six children, Rulon Jan (Karen) Waite, Taylorsville; Richard Bailey (Lou Anna) Waite, Clear-field; Robert D. Waite, Kaysville; Rula Jean (Robert) Hunter, Ogden; Marilee Packer, and Ronald (Pat) Waite, Kaysville. Her posterity includes 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren whom she always will cherish.

Oralie and Rulon taught their children to love music. They all learned to cultivate their voices and play musical instruments. Oralie taught hundreds of music students.

She and her husband sang in the Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir for 22 years. They also performed at thousands of musical events. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings. She was a strong student of the scriptures. She was a charter member of the Athena Club, the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the Kaysville Literary Club, and the Association of University Women.

She was peacefully called into the next part of her life on Saturday, January 19, 2002 while resting at her home after 85 memory-filled years. She is now happily reunited with her parents, her sisters and brothers, Gladie, Rula, Bart, and Blaine, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thurs., Jan. 24, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Crestwood LDS Meetinghouse, 1039 East Crestwood Road.
