I.F. Chambless and his wife Lillie and family came to Davis, I.T. in January, 1904 from Rocky Mount, Merriweather County, Georgia. They came by train, but sine the Mississippi River had no bridge, they crossed it by ferry.

They spent their first night in Davis at the Knott Tracy Hotel. They later moved west of Davis to farm.

After many years on the farm, they moved to Davis where they lived the rest of their lives.
