ACCIDENT CITED IN FATAL FALL
A 16-year-old Midvale boy, whose body was found at the bottom of a cliff in Big Cottonwood Canyon early Tuesday, was identified as Blaine Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Derald T. Smith of 444 Wood Street.
Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputies said the boy was hiking with another youth, but continued up the mountain when his companion decided not to.
He wasn't missed immediately, but a friend reported him missing about 2:45 p.m. Monday. The body was found at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Deputies termed the fall accidental.
