STANDARD ATLAS OF SCOTT COUNTY, ILLINOIS 1903, Geo. A. Ogle & Co. Publishers & Engravers, 134 Van Buren St. Chicago:

W. C. KUECHLER -- Among the hardware and furniture dealers of Winchester may be noted W. C. Kuechler. He was born in Arenzville, Cass county, Illinois, in 1857. He spent his early life there and attended school in that village. When he was sixteen years of age he commenced to serve his apprenticeship at the tinners trade, and after finishing his service worked as a journeyman in different towns and cities throughout the country until 1885, when he came to Scott county and started in business at Winchester. In 1886 his brother, H. H. Kuechler, was taken in as a partner, and together they conducted the business until the death of the brother, March 7, 1897. H. H. was buried at the Diamond Grove cemetery, Jacksonville, Illinois, March 9, 1897. After the death of his brother Mr. Kuechler took charge of the business, adding to its several departments and now has a complete outfitting store. He thoroughly understands his business and has had years of experience in all its lines.

W. C. Kuechler and Miss Margaret Condit were married in 1894, and to them two children have been born. The eldest child, Helen C., died January 22, 1900, and the youngest child, Ione, was born April 15, 1898. Mr. Kuechler owns handsome residence property in the northeastern part of Winchester. He is a very pleasant gentleman, a Mason, an Odd Fellow and has contributed in no small way to the upbuilding and ornamentation of Winchester. He is a republican, but finds business cares so exacting that he has no time to dabble in politics. He has never held office and doesn't seem to care for that honor.
