(source unknown) Mrs. Anna Wilhelmine Margareth, daughter of Mr. Henry Grundmann and his wife, Mary, nee Ziegler, was born September 25, 1873, in Illinois. She was baptized in the name of the Triune God soon after birth. In 1880, together with her parents, she came to Thayer County, Nebraska, to live on a farm in the vicinity of Friedensau. Here she was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church by Pastor R. H. Biedermann on March 25, 1888. On April 20, 1893, she was united in Holy Wedlock with Mr. Carl Degner. They lived in the Kiowa neighborhood for seven years, and in 1900 moved to the vicinity of Deshler, and in 1931 moved into Deshler, where Mr. Degner preceded her in death on June 23, 1942. This union the Lord blessed with two daughtesrs. The last six and one-half years Mrs. Degner spent at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernst Holtzen. Having been afflicted with multiple neuritis (Brights Disease), for the past six years, she passed away on last Wednesday morning at the age of 73 years, 21 months, and 22 days. She is survived by her two daughters, Elsie, Mrs. Ernst Holtzen, and Marie, Mrs. Dale Alloway, of Deshler; three brothers, Henry Grundmann of Earlsboro, Okla., William Grundmann of Hebron, and John Grundmann of St. Louis, Mo.; four sisters, Meta, Mrs. John Siebolds of Deshler, Lizzy, Mrs. Albert Rossmiller of Wildrose, North Dakota, Sophie, Mrs. Herman Dunker of Hebron, and Clara, Mrs. John Poppe of Kiowa; fifteen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Ernst Holtzen home and St. Peter's Lutheran Church.. Pastor H.F. Krohn spoke words of comfort on Revelations 3,21. The school children sang "Asleep in Jesus." Interment was made in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
