Dr Claude Marion Almand was born at Winnsboro, Louisiana. He was a composer and music educator. Dr. Almand was a graduate of Louisiana College (B.A., B.M., 1934), Louisiana State University (M.M., 1938) and the Eastman School of Music of The University of Rochester (Ph.D. 1940).

Dr. Almand was the son of Baptist pastor, Claude Fortson Almand and Pearl Harrison Almand. Dr. Almand married Lenoir Patton on July 27, 1950, and they had no children.

Dr. Almand taught at George Peabody College, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1944-1953), the University of Louisville, and Stetson University. He is best known to Florida Baptists as Dean of the School of Music at Stetson University (1953-1957).

He died in an automobile accident in 1957.

His best known sacred composition is "The Resurrection Story", an Easter cantata published by Broadman Press in 1959.
