Gertrude was the daughter of Francis Drake and Hannah Dekay from New York. She was Baptized Jan 13 1814 at St. James Protestant Episcopal Church in Goshen New York. She came to Michigan around 1832 with her parents and 3 sisters, Aletta, Cornelia and Arabella. Her 2 brothers Gouverneur and Edward were already in Lodi where they bought land from the Gov't and farmed until their deaths in Lodi.
Gertrude married Richmond Hinkley January 31 1833 in Washtenaw county.
They had several children that we know of thus far, Albert, William, Nelson, Laura Ann, George, Elizabeth and Julia.
