Hannah Cadmus was the daughter of Stephen Paret and his second wife Hannah (Van Brakle) Polhemus (her second marriage as well). On 24 December 1816, in New York City, she married John Kip Cadmus, son of Johannes Cadmus and Phoebe Crane, and the couple had the following nine children: Hannah Maria (Cadmus) Cole, Stephen Paret Cadmus, William Henry Cadmus, Delia (Cadmus Wilson, Sarah Jane (Cadmus) Corson, Matilda F. (Cadmus) Gesner, Edward A. Cadmus, Hartson Paret Cadmus, and Charles Cole Cadmus. Hannah was unusual in that she worked as a nurse, and her name appeared as such in the New York City Directory in 1846.
Hannah's funeral notice from an unknown newspaper:
"On Monday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, after a lingering illness, which she bore with Christian fortitude and resignation to the Divine will, and confiding in the hope of a blissful immortality beyond the grave, Mrs. Hannah Cadmus, wife of John K. Cadmus, and daughter of the late Stephen Paret, aged 46 years and 8 months.
Dearest mother, thou hast left us,
And thy loss we deeply feel.
But 'tis God who has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
Her friends and acquaintances, and those of the family in general, are respectfully invited to attend her funeral from her late residence, 105 Barrow corner of Bleecker st., on Thursday morning at eight o'clock, whence her remains will be taken to Belleville, N. J., for interment."
