Mildred Jewell (Howard) Hutchinson was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Hells Bend, to John and Emma (Yount) Howard. She died Sunday, March 15, in Locust Grove, at the age of 87 years, two months and 12 days.


Growing up, she attended school in Yonkers and Locust Grove, winning a national penmanship award. She was alifetime resident of the Locust Grove area. On June 1, 1941, in Wagoner, she married Elmer Anslem Hutchinson. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1983.


She worked as Postmaster in Yonkers for approximately six years and served on the school board. Her love and devotion were in her family and ministering for the Lord. She was a pastor for over 50 years


She loved to cook. She was known for her fried chicken, homemade rolls and pies. She also loved to travel, appreciating the beauty of God's handiwork and good roads. As a faithful servant of the Lord, she loved people at all times. She stayed the course, kept the faith and finished her race.


She is survived by one daughter, Elaine Clark and husband Dale, Pryor; one son, David Hutchinson and wife Sharon, Locust Grove; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six, great-great-grandchildren; one twin sister, Millie Wilson, El Sabrante, Calif.; numerous other relatives, several friends and church family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Mary Cook; three grandchildren, Todd Hutchinson, Kyle Hutchinson-Woolard and Travis Hutchinson; one son-in-law, Clyde Cook and eight brothers and sisters.


Funeral services are Wednesday, March 18, 2 p.m., at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Locust Grove. Diana Braden, Dustin Little and the Rev. Scott Clark will officiate. Interment will, follow at the Hulbert I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hulbert. Services have been entrusted to the Locust
