Charles W. Ward, 76, of 308 Clarke St., died Saturday evening at his home.

Mr. Ward was a nurse clinician at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center for several years, retiring in 1989. He also had owned and operated Wardie's Coffee Cup restaurant on lower Ford Street.

Born April 29, 1921, in Ogdensburg, son of Theodore H. and Eunice Crosson Ward , he graduated from St. Mary's Academy and the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center School of Nursing. He received his nurse clinician certificate from Syracuse University. He served in the Navy during World War II, achieving the rank of chief petty officer.

He married Isabella Ruth Allan on May 31, 1942, in Church of the Sacred Heart, Massena. Mrs. Ward died Dec. 9.

Mr. Ward was a communicant of St. Mary's Parish and member of the AMVETS and the Naval Reserve unit in Ogdensburg.

Surviving are five sons, "four daughters, a sister, two brothers, 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Foxwood Memorial Park with Deacon D. Thomas Sharow officiating. Entombment will follow the service.
