THE LIGHT OF GOD

There's a light that is shining from Heaven above
And it's rays reach the whole world around;
'Tis a beacon that shines as a guide to all men
Who are all toward eternity bound.
The Light which was sent by the Father of Lights,
Came and dwelt upon earth among men;
He has long since returned to the Father of Love,
But He's shining as brightly as then.
The disciples beheld the great gleam of the light,
While they saw Satan's darts at them hurled;
And they heard from His lips as He graciously said,
"While I'm here, I'm the Light of the World."
Now since He has gone from our midst for a while,
We're possessed with a mission divine;
For the Light of the Son He has given to us,
And it now is our duty to shine.
