Minnie Belle Thompson was born on July 24, 1866, in Marion, Ohio to Charles Thompson and Matilda Messenger Thompson. She had six brothers and four sisters. She died in a diphtheria epidemic on November 3, 1880, in Allen County, Kansas, and was buried in Bronson, Kansas. She was only 14 years old. Three of her siblings also died in the epidemic, and all four are named on the same obelisk stone.
