Verma Beatrice Foster, 3 years old and only child of Mr. and Mrs. Fenner Foster, died yesterday morning at 3 o'clock, cause of death being diptheria. The child had been sick for about a week and the mother also contracted the disease, but is improving. Little Verna was born in Stevenson, Washington on November 19, 1919 and was a lovable child. The parents have the sympathy of the community.
Health officers have taken steps to keep the disease from spreading and no other cases have thus far developed. The schools have been thoroughly fumigated as a precautionary measure. It is said the death of a little girl across the Columbia River occured from the same disease.
